Why Community is Important

October 15, 2013

Because we are created by a God who exists in community! While we are stuck in a perpetual tension over the mystery of the Trinity, we know that God exists eternally in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Spirit. We also know that each one has a respective role in the process of salvation and in the progress of God’s plans for the universe.

Each member of the Trinity supplies life to the others, they are inseparable, yet individual and therein lies the tension. Yet, there are two takeaways (probably more) we can learn from this tension.

1. We are created for the same kind of relationship with others. (Genesis 1:26)
2. Much like each Person of the Trinity has a role in salvation, our relationships are intended to spread the message of the Gospel. (John 13:35)

It’s hard to build these kind of relationships, they don’t happen overnight and they certainly don’t happen under the weight of our “crazy busy” culture. God has designed us to “supply life” to each other, that life comes in the form of accountability, encouragement, love, respect and the like.

If you have never experienced this kind of relationship with someone it’s because you are too busy to build one! Get started, take the initiative, chances are the person you are sitting next to at church or your Bible study, or your Community Group is desiring the same kind of relationship he/she was designed to enjoy! It starts with lunch, coffee or dinner and ends up glorifying God by producing fruit. (Galatians 6:9)

Lead with Love,

Dave
