How to Live

February 23, 2012

I miss my grandfather.  He always had the ability to shoot very straight, it’s easy to respect someone who tells it like it is, who calls it like they see it.  He passed shortly before my wedding almost 11 years ago.  The reason I remember that so well is because I still believe to this day he liked my wife better than me!  I would come over from time to time to visit and the first thing out of his mouth would be “Where’s Elizabeth?”, to which I would reply “What am I, chopped liver?”

I remember Grandpa telling me about his step-father.  He used to say that “The only reason God put that man on this earth was to teach us how not to live our lives.”  While we chuckle at a comment like that, the reality of the statement is altogether not funny.  God places people in our lives to teach us a lesson and whether we like it or not our lives work in the same way for someone else.

Jesus says in Matthew 5:16 “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Jesus is encouraging us to view our lives as a lesson and as others watch they will be able to point out why we do things and who we live for.    What lesson are you teaching with your life?

Lead with Love,

David
